The Exterior Stairs and Rooftop Terraces

Walk up the massive concrete steps of Linnahall for unobstructed views of the Baltic Sea.

Linnahall's brutalist exterior is usually open to walk on, though some sections are fenced off. Built for the 1980 Moscow Olympics, the ziggurat-style design allows visitors to climb directly onto the roof.

Outside, you will find wide concrete staircases, sweeping seaside terraces, and a former helipad. Locals and visitors gather here for photography and sunset viewing.

The Sweeping Staircases

10 minSlippery when wet

These grand concrete staircases lead from the ground level to the vast roof. They highlight the building's distinct brutalist architecture. Exercise caution while climbing. Watch for broken concrete, weeds, and highly slippery spots during rain or winter ice.

Rooftop Viewing Platforms

20 minIdeal for sunsets

The highest points of the complex offer panoramic views over the Baltic Sea and the Port of Tallinn. The brutalist design intentionally keeps sea views from the Old Town unobstructed. It is highly popular for sunset watching between May and September.
